MF Day 1, 6/10/2007: Floating the MF

Our first day out, I tried wearing a "helmet-cam." This didn't work out for several reasons. One, the helmet hurt my head. Two and perhaps more importantly, I was almost always in the lead of our group, on an unknown river, so I was always looking back and forth. That made for some pretty nauseating video.

Here is a small snippet, both to show how annoying it was, and also to show something I thought was very funny (in a schadenfreudeish kind of way).



When my head is actually pointed upstream, you should notice two things: one, we are still in sight of the launch ramp, and two, the guy in the tan raft has already gotten his boat stuck on a rock. Getting in "trouble" withing sight of the ramp is pretty impressive: there was pretty much only one rock in the river and he managed to hit it.

I also notice that I seem to be fascinated by the tree.
